Eastern partnership is the main topic of April issue of the Czech Business Today. In the beginning of March, CEBRE – Czech Business Representation to the EU in cooperation with Czech Permanent Representation to the EU organized a debate on Eastern partnership titled Win-win situation not only for businesses with Štefan Füle, commissioner responsible for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy. Second important issue of last CBT is the proposal of European Private Company statute. The aim of this statute is to simplify cross-border trade and allow European SMEs to use one standardized legal form in whole European Union. In addition to regular section of News flash, you can find SMEs barometer - Czech SMEs' expectations regarding their economic growth in the first half 2010. The second page of CBT continues with the topics of Eastern partnership and European Private Company. Moreover, you can read about the new Strategy “Europe 2020” which was approved in early March. Regular article of ČEZ company informs you about the European Nuclear Energy Forum which will be held in Bratislava this year. On the second page you can also find a calendar of interesting events organized in next months.
On 7 May 2009, the Eastern Partnership project was inaugurated in Prague. Its aim is to improve the political and economic relationship between European Union and the countries of “strategic importance” – Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. Eastern partnership aims to develop good governance, promote human rights and improve the cooperation. Business organizations as well as entrepreneurs are involved in this project.
The European Commission adopted proposal for European Private Company statute in June 2008. This statute should allow European SMEs to use one standardized legal form in whole European Union. Single legal form will also reduce costs for setting up a new company. Bad news was announced in December last year when the Member states did not adopt the proposal and decided to review the document.
The new strategy “Europe 2020”, which was approved in March this year, should ensure the economic growth and jobs strategy. The main challenges of the strategy (replacing the Post-Lisbon Strategy) are: economic crisis, destabilized financial markets, climate change, ageing population and other topics. The question is how to ensure the effective implementation of proposed measures.
Annual European Nuclear Energy Forum will be held in Bratislava on the 25th and 26th of May 2010. This platform of representatives from the Member states, European institutions, nuclear industry and electricity consumers is to discuss the use of nuclear energy.
