The European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT) organized the launch of ERT's Vision for a competitive Europe in 2025. This lounch took place in Brussels, 2 February 2010.
The main topic of the launch was how to ensure EU's well being after the economic crisis. The speakers proposed a lot of policies with which we can combate against the effects of the economic crisis. The vision is very ambitious and includes many recommendations which should be taken if we want keep EU as a perspective and attractive place to live and work. ERT also introduced a set of "Quick Wins" which conclude short-time policy that could bring Europe onto a new post-crisis path for economic development from as early as 2010.
According to the Vision Europe must achieve 5 main goals, Europe has to become:
1. global champion of sustainable growth
If Europe wants to stay an attractive place to live and work it has to achieve that benefit its society can be sustained over time.
2. well-embedded and respected in global markets
Europe has to remian a main economic leader in the world. This can be ensured by deeper cooperation between the states on the Europen continent.
3. unleashing its innovative power
Members of EU have to rank highly in the Global Innovation Scorecard of 2025, with more joining the ranks of the world’s top innovators every year.
4. people, education and culture to drive productivity
The Member states have to ensure deep cooperation between education, business and government.
5. The model of decisive, reliable and transparent governance
EU has to reform its own governenance system. The system has to be more efficient, clear, transparent and the limitations of national approaches need to be recognised.
