During the economic crisis, an average late payment of public administration has reached almost 67 days. This number is
even three times worse in some south-European countries. CEBRE organized a business breakfast titled Late Payments in September. Speakers discussed the revision of the Late Payments directive. The proposal contains stricter rules for public administration which businessmen welcomed.
On 11th November 2009, CEBRE Policy Café took place on consumer rights in the European Parliament. Representatives of the European Parliament, business organisation, consumer association and Czech Permanent Representation to the EU agreed the legislative process should not be rushed. It is worthy to dedicate more time to the proposal and avoid further recasts.
The third page of CBT deals with the review of IPPC. Key members of the EU energy market and Members of the European Parliament discussed the revision of the IPPC directive on 2nd December, the date before the second reading in the EP.
On the last page of the CBT, we inform you about the events which will take place at the beginning of this year. CEBRE plans Business Breakfast on “SMEs access to finance”, Policy Café on Energy and a debate with Mr. Füle, the new Czech Commissioner. On 12 February, The Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU will hold a Czech ball where traditionally high level Czech as well as European representatives will meet.
